Here are some wicked examples of some other work by three of the alberg & austin designers…
Kath Eastwood
“Bloom” came to be whilst I was pottering about and making pretty things for my tiny bedroom in Sheffield in an attempt to make it look more homely!
I’ve always had a love for all things floral, vintage, polka dot and pretty and turned my passion for these things into homeware accessories that can make any home that little more quirky!
Bloom products are sold in and around South Yorkshire in one-off boutiques and at local craft markets.
If you would like to see more of what Bloom is all about and can do then check out my facebook page for more pictures and information: ‘Bloom Kath Eastwood’
The Bloom website is coming very shortly so look out for me!
Ian Carrington
I came across a lot of old pictures that my dad had taken years ago and thought they were pretty nice images.
Having seen a few examples of nice imagery used with cute sayings or song lyrics, I tried my hand at giving it a go.
The collection I have now is growing after looking through hundreds of old pictures, my dad seemed to have a keen eye back in the day.
The text used is only song lyrics with personal connections.
Amy Hill
I draw, I write and I take photos. I wouldn’t claim to excel in any of these fields, but I love them all equally. Albert Einstein might have been talking about me when he said ” I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious”. When I get a ‘real’ job I’d like to work in marketing or publishing, although at the moment I enjoy the freedom that comes with freelancing alongside working for Topshop – it’s a great form of escapism for me, personally. I think giving yourself mini projects and deadlines to work towards can help establish what it is you take out of your creativity, and how much you’re willing to put into it to make it work as something more than a hobby. I’d like to concentrate my efforts into sketching more next year to develop my style; I’m still learning from my mistakes and teaching myself new things all the time. My biggest outlet for my illustration is probably birthday cards and mix cds for my friends – I love hand made gifts. I am a notorious hoarder, which comes in handy when I’m looking for inspiration. Oh and I really want a kitten, which is pretty much the reason they feature on every other page in my sketchbooks.
Look out for more stuff from our other designers soon!

likes cereal & playing the piano. i first met luke back in 2004 when he showed a girl with a shark phobia his awesome shark watch. now he is a pop star and wears alberg & austin.
to download luke’s brilliant album ‘have you got heart’ FOR FREE click here
Luke has recorded live sessions for Huw Stephens at Radio 1 and John Kennedy at Xfm, as well as receiving support from Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music who said of Luke’s latest album Have You Got Heart?; “If there’s any justice in the world, Luke Leighfield ought to be all over the Radio 1 playlist. Luke has completely upped his game on this new album. He’s got mainstream playlist appeal together with indie sensibility, which he still hasn’t abandoned.” Luke is currently writing for his fourth album, which he hopes to record in early 2011. Check out his website www.lukeleighfield.com for more info.
Don’t forget you only have a couple of days left to get 20% OFF your alberg & austin order by using the code NOV20 at the checkout!

make me a cake as fast as you can.
a malibu cake in fact. Here is a nice recipe i found for a malibu and lime cake! Yum!
cake:
175g diced, unsalted butter
150g unrefined caster sugar
200g self-raising flour
½ tsp baking powder
25g coconut powder
3 large free range eggs
4 tbsp Malibu
900g loaf tin, lined with baking powder
icing:
125g sifted icing sugar
a little grated lime zest
1 ½ tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
25g desiccated coconut
Preheat the oven to 160C. Lightly grease the loaf tin with butter before you line it with baking paper. Put the butter in a large bowl with the sugar and beat with an electric beater or a wooden spoon until light and fluffy. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and coconut powder. Lightly beat one of the eggs and add it to the butter mixture with a tbsp of the dry ingredients. Beat in well and repeat with the remaining eggs, adding a spoonful of the dry ingredients each time. Pour in the Malibu then add the remaining dry ingredients, mixing in lightly and quickly. Spoon the mixture into the loaf tin and spread the top evenly. Bake for 45-50 minutes until well risen. Remove from the oven, cool for 10 minutes then turn out of the tin and cool on a rack. For the icing, mix the lime zest with the sifted icing sugar and lime juice and spread over the cake, then sprinkle with desiccated coconut. Enjoy!
check out this new online magazine…brainchild of Richard Chappelow and friends.
This is what Rich had to say about the magazine:
“The magazine started in April 2010, Sam Peat and I came up with a pilot issue which only went around friends and didn’t get much notice from anyone else. From this we decided to have the publication as our main output and we would slowly start to introduce a video aspect as well. We got a few friends to help out and have now a team of 3 or 4 people working on this permanently. The purpose I suppose of putting this together was something to do really, I know that sounds bland and reasonably pathetic, but since graduating it seems that finding a job is harder than making one for yourself. So with that in mind we went through a few more changes in terms of simplifying layouts and getting to the visual look we are at now.
The intention of the magazine was always to help inspire students and people interested in art and design, the aim to showcase work of talented individuals and have interviews giving advice from industry professionals has always been the sole purpose, we just took a while to get the presentation right. We are self printing and distributing magazine but we obviously want to make sure we are supplying something that people are reading and wanting to read. Since it’s free we aren’t gaining anything financially from it, just the satisfaction of putting out a good quality publication.”

If you haven’t yet been introduced to the horrors of Rebecca Black’s pop song ‘Friday’ you are in a for a real sickly treat!
With classic lines such as “gotta make my mind up….which seat can I take”, “yesterday was thursday” and “sunday comes afterwards”.
And what were they thinking getting a fully grown man to rap about “the school bus in front of me”!?
As RB would say “it’s friday, friday, gotta get down on friday” It’s probably the worst thing you’ll see all day!
Just jeans and hoodies.
